SEASONS

Moving Families Through Change

Seasons is a program designed to help children cope with their parents’ divorce or separation. Seasons provides a safe atmosphere where children may realize that they are not alone, it’s not their fault and there is hope for the future.

The program’s goals are threefold:
  1. Children will recognize, understand, and learn coping strategies for the feelings associated with divorce
  2. Children will learn problem solving and communication skills
  3. Children will understand the dynamics of divorce and how it may affect them.

This program is designed for children ages 6-17. They will participate in small, interactive groups with others near their own age: 6-9, 10-13 and 14-17 years old.

Two classes are held concurrently from 8:00 – Noon one Saturday of the month for kids ages 6-9 and 10-13 at Bashor Children’s Home in Goshen. Classes for 14-17 year olds are held one Monday each month from 5:30-9:30 pm at Bashor Children's Home in the Community Resource Center. Parents are asked to join their children towards the end of class.

The classes are facilitated by trained instructors who do not lecture, give advice or place blame. Experiences in class may include role playing, art, group discussions, games and more.
